Iron Warriors. Venomcrawler conversion. Part 3.
My first daemon engine is done :) . I am quite happy with it.
My first daemon engine is done :) . I am quite happy with it.
Some paint and oil washes later :) . Still very much a work in progress but slowly we are getting there.
It occurs to me that I have not shared the good news! Kuggköping have a new version ready for download. Based on feedback and my own playtesting some bigger changes have been implemented.
For anyone interested, Alpha 2.0 is free to download. It’s a solo / co-op skirmish game set in the wondrous city of Kuggköping.
Try it out and please leave your thoughts on the game if you feel like it.
Next little project is the venomcrawler. I didn’t intended to convert ever model to my Iron Warriors but looking at the models I can’t help my self.
Firstly I don’t love the design of the chaos units. Generally they look ok. There is a lot of cool details and for the most part nice designs. But I feel that most of them don’t reflect the deep heritage from the Horus Heresy and the legions they once were. So this is what I try to add in most of these conversions. Also I want things to be more mechanical to reflect the nature of Iron Warriors. I don’t see the 4th legion to be worshippers or supporters of daemons. I see them more as a legion that use the warp, chaos and the gods as tools or as weapons. It’s means to an end and nothing more.
That’s what Iron Warriors is to me and that’s what I want them to look like :) .
The venomcrawler conversion is based on the Horus heresy mechanicum vorax model. It makes sense to me that these mechanical constructs would eventually evolve to what the venomcrawler is after thousands of years in the warp and at the hands of the 4th legion. A fun and easy conversion. Maybe a bit expensive, but totally worth it :) .
The Lord has come and with him he usher in a new year, a new age of my Iron Warriors. If COVID is willing I will try 40K next year and leading the force forward will be my newly converted Lord discordant.
2020 have been a bad year for table top gaming. But I am very thankful that me and my family have made it so far without any incidents. So while the hobby side of things have been lacking the important things in life is ok.
It is hard to not think about all the families that have not been so lucky and I give a lot of thoughts to those that have gone through a really bad year. I hope that 2021 will be the very best year for everyone and that our life can soon go back to normal. Happy new year and stay safe!
It is that Merry time of the year. The Iron Warriors is eagerly waiting for the bringer of gifts and wonders. Slowly he is getting closer, just some washes and highlights and then he will join the ranks of jolly men.
Merry Christmas to all heretics and defenders of the imperium!
A new version of Kuggköping is ready to download. Changes big and small have happened to the game and a lot of playtesting have been done :D.
I enjoy this little creation of mine and I hope you will do it to. If you have any feedback or comments do not hesitate to share them with me.

At the moment I am moving about some furniture between rooms. This have unfortunately made my regular “photo-place” unavailable. So the photos of my little dudes is not the best at the moment. I will try to take better photos once the redecorating is done.
But here we have the iconic warpsmith fresh out of the forge :) .
I didn’t really like the original master of possession model so I made my own version. This model will double as a sorcerer as well. I guess that the difference between a master of possession and a sorcerer is thin line :) .
The mighty Storm Lord is ready for battle. With its chassis tied to the unification wars, it’s mighty frame have seen a multitude of battles. The great crusader brought it to the stars and to the stars it brought its devastation. And now as Horus draws close to terra this behemoth return to its cradle to serve once more.
I decided to re-paint my Stormlord. I love the look of the tank and want to be able to bring it more often. Originally I painted the tank for my warhounds/world eaters. And it looked nice in blue. But it kind of stopped me to bring the tank with any of my other legions. So a neutral grey is the new color for it.
Another dreadnought gets rewarded for faithful service. Now it’s time for my Leviathan to be gifted some more dakka.
There is something dark and twisted moving in the ranks of the 4th. A holy union between steel and flesh, gun and limb.
Come forth my children of oblivion. Let’s bring ruin to the imperial truth and all who spread its lies. The kingdom of man will fall and the galaxy will burn.
Decided to give one of my contemptors a set of Volkites. I love the look of the autocannons that is he’s “original” load out, but the volkite have a little bit more bite to it. Don’t get me wrong, I like the look of the volkite as well but it is something with those long barrels :) .
I have this vision for a city that never seem to leave me. I can’t do anything else but to give in to it and try to make it come to life. This is the next chapter in my effort of creating my own tabletop miniatures game.
What started as a modification of a simple skirmish game ended in a re-write and a reboot of my self-developed game.
For anyone that checked out Kuggköping in the past, you will now find that the game is a lot different now. It has been re-imagined and re-done from the ground up. Now the game is far from finished and there is a lot left to do before I could call it all done. But I think that it is solid enough to share with the rest of the world.
Taking the game from a skirmish game and turning it to a solo/cooperative/ semi player vs player game have been really fun and I now have a game I can enjoy in my own company or with friends and family.
Since covid-19 happened there have been difficulty to meet with others and enjoy a simple tabletop game. So, some months into this pandemic I decided to do something about it. Why not create a game that I could enjoy while the world figure this pandemic out. Something that I can play on the evenings when my children is put to bed and that could give me a similar experience that many other games dose but in my own company.
Obviously as the games father I love it and find it enjoyable. But I do think others can enjoy it as well.
As we are sitting at home waiting for this disease to disappear, why not go on an adventure into the wonderous city kuggköping.
I hope you feel a little curious about the game and I encourage you to go and check it out.

The Moonstone characters are done. Such lovely models, so much character and originality. These where awesome to paint.
Now I just need to get a game in with them. With COVID and everything going on that might take some time to arrange, but I am happy I got them painted.
I do have 8 more models for moonstone left to paint up. I do however have some other things to attend before I can start on them and it would be nice to play the game before making more models.
4 down 2 to go. Almost. Some details and the bases left to do :) .
I think it was two years since I got my kickstarter backings from Goblin King Games. During this time the boxes of wonderful models have been waiting in storage. Now is the time to start painting up the boxes.
I don’t know why it have taken me this long but hey better late than never right.
I feel in love with this game by just seeing the artwork when the Kickstarter was announced. It is the only thing I have backed and I am so so happy I did.
There is so many lovely models for this game and as far as I can tell from others reviews the game is quite good. I will paint up some models and then try the game out. This is going to be fun!
So, with the release of Malifaux 3 edition my favorite master Lucius got a new crew box. In that box where a new character called agent 46.
Becaus I already owned the 2 edition crew box I had all models except for agent 46. Buying a new crew box for one model was never an option for me. But Wyrd was quite clever and have made it so that you can buy separate characters from new boxes so that you don’t need to pay big bucks for individual models.
Now, living in Sweden and not in US means that on top of the cost for the model I also need to pay shipping and custom. All and all the amount would add up to about the price for a new crew box. No retailer I have talked to in Sweden would be willing to help me either.
With all that I settled on the fact that agent 46 were a model I wasn’t going to get.
But then I got the idea of converting my own. In there RPG version of Malifaux wyrd sells a multi-part kit and with this kit I could probably use some parts to make my conversion.
And here is the result. It is not an exact replica of the original model. More of a representation of the concept art. If I can get my hands on the original at some point I will. But for now I am happy with my own creation.
And here is the concept art I was basing my conversion on.
My spouse wanted a new crew for Malifaux and settled for Rasputina. A fun crew to paint. I tried some new things with there color scheme. Some airbrush, some oil paints, some acrylics, some washes, mixing all of it on the same models. I learned a little more of how I can use the different mediums and my spouse is happy with the end result.
