Horus heresy. Black shields. Second marauder squad. Part 4
So now all of the Marauders are built. Next will be to put some paint on these guys.
So now all of the Marauders are built. Next will be to put some paint on these guys.
Almost done. Just need to add back packs and maybe some cabels or other bits depending on what i have in my bits box.
Almost done with all the parts. So just the last assembly and then painting :) .
It might look like my Marauders are getting some slow progress, but in fact i think i have done alot on them already :) . It takes a littel time to convert all the parts and to find that perfect bits. It will probably take a littel longer before all of them are done but we will get there.
Guild ball models are complete. Or as complete as I can make them at this time in my life ;) . Next up on the painting table is some black shields and I might need to start to think about what transport my second marauder squad should have.
So the ball is done and the goal is well on its way. Just the final push and i am done :) .
I think I am done with the guild ball models. Now have started on the ball token and on the goal so I guess I will move on to them and make sure I finish it all berore moveing on.
Here we go. The paint scheme is now done and i will move on to the base. Not sure what I will go with yet. Might need to look for inspiration first. But I am happy with the models so far. Might need to do a goal as well and of corse, the ball :) .
Some more progress have been made on my guild ball team. Almost ready to start with the bases.
Got off to a good start with the guild ball models. Super nice to only have three models to worry about. And even if I love painting my black shields and Iron warriors it feels nice to do something other than power armor :) .
Two projects on the painting table at the moment. The second marauder squad and two guild ball teams.
I do love skirmish games and have a few in my possession. I have been planning on making a gallery for all the models for all of these “smaller” games in the future but I think I will add them as I go along. Now guild ball is a game that me and my partner in crime (my wife to be), got our eyes on some month ago. We instantly ordered one team etch and then other things came in the way. But now I will finally sit down and paint the models up so we can have our first game. It will be nice to paint something different as well for a few sessions.
Done and finished. Now the marauder squad is complete and I can look forward to some more conversions. I think the next project will be five more marauders to start off the second marauder squad. We will see what I can cook up. Everything is in bits and pieces right now so it feels pretty far away at the moment. But I will start to sort it out and see what I have parts for and hopefully I will end up with a marauder squad when it is all finished :) .
So the models are more or less done. Last step is to fix some of the details, add eye color and do the base. Now i might fix some small things before i call them but for the most part thay are finished. I think it is a quick nice color scheme. I do like the dirty look and i think it is perfect for black shields.
A small update on the Marauders. This step is fairly simpel. Just take a sponge and break up the dirt on edges and big open surfaces. After that pick out some of the details if you want it to be in another color then tha main paint scheme. I ended up adding a littel brown/red wash on some of the bolts to make them stand out from all the silver as well.
Next step of the paint scheme for my marauders is accent colors. It is pretty straight forward. Add the color you want for you models. I would say not to overdo it but it is up to anyone what that is. After that I dry brush the models with I light brown color. Here I try to pick up some details like tubes and bolts. As well as giving some areas some life with the warmer color. I then go over the model with a sand color that will more or less match the color of the base. This is also dried brushed on.
Tomorrow I will use a sponge and light silver again to break up some of the dirt.
So the last four marauders are on the painting tabel. Well the last four for the first squad that is. I got a question the other day of how I painted my reaver lord. There is no great trick to it or any great secret. So I thought I could share the recipe here on the blog. Maybe it can inspire someone.
First step is to paint the model black. I do this with a black spray but you can easily just do it with a paint brush. After that I dry brush the model with a light silver. There are many ways to dry brush something. But the best way I have found is to dry brush first in one direction and then go over it again in an intersecting direction. That way you end up with a nice criss-cross pattern. Next step is to sponge light silver on the model. I know some guys don’t like this method. But I think it is a nice easy way to give some open areas some texture. Last step for today is to wash the whole model in any black wash. Idea is to dull it down a bit. You might need to do this one or two times to get the preferred darkness on the surfaces.
Tomorrow we will add some contrast color and try to dirty the model up a bit.
So here we are. The terminators are done and finished. Next up will be the rest of the marauder squad. I will also see if I have parts for a second marauder squad as well. Having a good time converting things up :) .
Just a couple of small things to do on the terminators and then we will call it. I really like the look and feel of these models. I am planning on getting my hands on five more terminators of some kind and make this squad ten strong. And in time maybe a Spartan to transport them. The most fun with this project is the converting aspect. So I will start look around for parts for the other five. I think I will base them on Cataphractii but I don’t want them to be plain Cataphractii. I will try to mix armor pieces and/or marks with some other random elements.
Super fun project I have started here I must be honest. Let’s see how long I will keep this up. It is the usual story with me. I get super exited on one project and work heavily on it until I run out of steam. Then I pause and continue with something els for a while. I don’t mind working like that, but maybe it can look a little chaotic from the outside. At least my blog won’t be the same old thing over and over again. You, just like me, never know what will show up the next day ;)
Almost done with the terminators. After this i will continue with the rest of the marauders for the all ready half made marauder squad.
Some more progress on the terminators. I like it :) .
