Foldable Gaming Table. Malifaux Board. Part 3.
Starting to get there with one of the sides of the table. And the trees are also almost finished. I couldn’t resist putting some terrain on the table to get a feel for where it is heading :) .
Starting to get there with one of the sides of the table. And the trees are also almost finished. I couldn’t resist putting some terrain on the table to get a feel for where it is heading :) .
All trees have been removed and I have started to put them on their own bases. Moving forward to try to remove all the pebbles.
This is a little different from what I normally blog about. Christmas 95 or 96 my father made and gave me my very own gaming table with terrain. Back in the days this table was the boom. It was foldable and came with all terrain pre-setup.
But as time went on the static setup started to be a bit boring and after years of playing it have seen better days.
So I have decided to fix it up and adapt it to 2020 and beyond.
First step is to remove all trees and put them on there own bases. The remove most of the pebbles and stones. Once finished I hope I have a dynamic and original gaming table for different types of fantasy games. Primarily the table will be used for Malifaux but there is other games I play that it will be suited for.
I have never done anything like this so this will be a little adventure for me. Going to be fun :D .
I feel done with these big guys :) . Tried a new recipe for lenses which I feel worked quite well :) .
Small steps forward but we are getting there. Next step is to add some oils :) .
Continuing my big robots. Really love these models. Going to be a treat to continue :) .
Next addition to my Mechanicum…..some more robots :D .
The first 10 breachers is done. This also concludes something I started about two years ago. 2018 I realized that most of my iron warriors was really poorly painted. This is the last unit from that “time” and now I feel I have an iron warriors that I am happy to field on the table top. I will take some more pictures of the force in it’s entirety as soon as conditions allow for it.
Brushing up my old breachers. This was the very first squad of marines I got for my Iron Warriors. I really love how they look. I also bought 10 more so I could run a squad of 20 in the future. 20 is way more cool then 10 ;) .
There, I feel that these guys is done. I think I am starting to get the hang of painting blood splatter now. It is not perfect but it starts to look more and more realistic.
Slowly getting there :) .
Some more progress on the inductiis :) .
I decided to add some more inductiis to my world eaters. Drawing a lot of inspiration from Death Of Hope, I wanted these inductiis to look more sinister. I like the look and fun to add some more to my murder hord.
And here is my complete ork army. It is not as grand as it once was. But what remains is in my eyes a formidable force. I very much plan on expanding the force. Mainly with Dreads and other vehicles. I do however have my old grots and Gretchins left to finish so there is still stuff to do :) .
And these is the latest addition to my army. I can’t take full credit for the conversions. I bought them half converted and just finished the job added the top gun and fixed some smaller areas…and painted all of course. As far as rules goes I have realized that the boosts blasta is not the best unit in the game. But to me it is one of the coolest :) .
So here is the ork commander’s for my ork force. Old faithful models ready for the table, Lead by the big lill warboss, Old Gazz, the small stomper, the gut krusha :D .
This unit is a treat and a treasure for me. It contains all generations of stormboyz sculpts. It is rather fun to see the different directions in design. I love my old models but the latest stormboy design is really cool.
Here we have a collection of interesting models. Some older kommando models from both second and third edition and some old mad boyz and blood axes. All converted to be kommandos. I was thinking of removing the two burna boyz from the unit because nowadays kommandos can’t have them. But they have been part of my kommandos since third edition so they will stay. If I ever play with the unit I will run them as orks with tank busta booms.
Let’s continue my small little showcase of my old orks. My tank bustas. I particularly like this unit because of the weird conversions and the old models.
I was not sure where to begin in this post.
The content has been shown somewhat before on this blog but I later removed it. I am tempted to explain why its reapers now, but I feel that it dose not matter.
This is my very first army. Back when I was a young boy, me and my friend age 7-8 got our hands on the second edition Warhammer 40k starter box. He picked space marines and I picked space orks.
With a beginner’s guide in Swedish we took our first steps into the wargaming hobby. One or two years later we sat with the original rulebook and an English to Swedish lexicon trying to deciphered how the game was played.
There is some found memory’s there, almost like a treasure hunt when the game system slowly unfolded before our eyes. Discovering that there was something called codex’s and with it came additional rules for our army’s.
Around 2002 the army and the hobby were packed into storage containers and would not see the light again for about eleven years.
As I entered the hobby once more my old orks was outdated and badly painted, so many greater sculpts had been done for other factions and so the orks stayed in the storage as I went and built other army’s.
But my old miniatures slowly called me back. And now I feel determined to bring the army back to its former glory. This have been an on and off project I have been working on since 2015. Trying to fresh up the old paint job, add missing squad members and stay true to the old army layout.
I feel that it is time to show what I have been working on. Now, this is not an army that will win prices. It will not blow anyone away. Some models are very poorly painted, there are mould lines here and there, weird conversions and odd old sculpts is in the army. But this is my original army. 90% of all models are from second or third edition. I must have played with these guys hundreds of times. Some models have incredible stories to tell of great feat they did during some games.
I have tried to keep true to my original paint scheme. Not striping any paint if I did not need to. Most of the colours is the original paint from back in the day. I have however brushed it up as good as I could. Added washes and dirt. And painted them in the clan of deathskulls.
The intention is to continue with the army adding to it. But I will mostly add vehicle and walkers. I want the original infantry to make up the bulk of the army.
Hope this can bring some inspiration.
