Word Bearers. Land raider.

After about a year the list I had stands ready. The final piece of the puzzle is the second land raider. I will try to take a family picture of the hole army this evening or later this week. Feels really nice to have the army I intended standing ready :D .

next on my list of things to do is the Mechanicum. Two years ago I decided to start an Mechanicum army. Now is the time to finish it. I almost have all parts for my 3000p army. But not all are painted yet. This will be my primary focus for the remaining year and start of next. I can finally give it the attention I have wanted :) .

Gal Varbak. Word Bearers. Part 2.

Finally the gal varbak is done. Took me a while, but I think the end result are okay. This was very fun models to paint and some of the coolest models in the entire Horus heresy range (my opinion) .

next up will be another land raider for my word bearers. This army have been “designed” to be somewhat compact but still effective. That’s my theory anyway.

I am also making plans for one more unit of gal varbak. But first I want to finish my original list.

Time to get rockin on that “school bus”.

Word Bearers. Gal Varbak. Part1.

Instead of making excuses about how little time I have had for my army's. I could talk about what I have been up to. Right now I am hard at work making my own skirmish game. And that have been taking up most of my time.

once some artwork are done I will post about it here as well. At the moment am working together with a friend and my lovely lovely spouse. Sorry to say I won't post any of the rules any time soon. We are making the game in Swedish to begin with. It is our first language after all. But as things get developed I am sure we will turn it to a English version as well.

it is super exciting and very time consuming. Right now we have a basic draft of the game and on Saturday we will play test it. I might even blog about.

But of course my wonderful word bearers need some love as well.

I am finally at a place where I can start working on the good stuff. Some gal varbak. These must be some of the best looking miniatures in the game. I love them. I hope I can make the justice.

Horus Heresy. Word Bearers. Land Raider.

In the beginning of October it is time for our next step in my gaming groups small escalation campaign. This time we are up to 1500p. I have been unsure about what army I should bring. Word bearers was the army I committed too in the beginning of the year. But after I have played with them a couple of times i have felt unsure about the army. I almost made up my mind about it all and pretty much put my word bearers on hold. But after I have had some time to think about it I kind of want to finish what I started. Trying to focus on making a beautiful army above anything els. The fact that I am not that far away from 2000p kind of motivates me to continue as well.

what I have had problems with is a little lore and a little game play related. I see my self as a medium bad guy when it comes to games. And have a hard time to relate to the word bearers super villain status. I also wanted to make a smaller army. Not having masses of infantry and bodies thrown at the enemy. More a smaller foot print army featuring a lot of monsters. Now this tactic have not been to successful and that is okay I guess, even if you don't want to give the game to our opponent before the first dice have hit the table.

But playing with lists and trying to come up with something a little more hard hitting a realized that word bearers probably want to be a mass infantry army supported with big guns and monsters. Tip of the day is too understand what you committ to before committing.

Any way, I like to look of the army and I will continue to finish what I started. Once finished I can always take the army in the direction were it excels.

A lot of words to describe that I like what I do and will continue to do it :) .

Horus Heresy. Black shields. Warhounds.

I started my black shields right after book 6 was released. I love the freedom and the creativity it enables. From the beginning I made up my own lore and story about my force. And got a couple of games in with them. I really liked them on the table top but despite that I never really played with them on a regular basis.

The problem I had was simply my own lore and explanation for their existence. Not until I read betrayer by Aaron Dembski-Bowden I got the idea that would make me come back to my black shields and continued what I once started.

In betrayer you follow word bearers and world eaters as they burn through the ultramar system. In that story there is a world eater dreadnought that are "summoned" at times of need. So thanks for this he gets a good picture of how the world eaters have changed over time. From the time when they were called warhounds until the world eaters that they are after istvaan.

It is never spoken out loud but it seems like not everyone are on board with Angrons ways and the dreadnought heavily implies that the world eaters lost there honor and sense of brotherhood. It never gives an example but the feeling you get is that there could be world eaters that deserts ther own legion and leave the slow deterioration of there own legion.

Endryd Haar who is a named character in books 6 further supports this idea because he is listed as an renegade world eater. And follow the story that are emplied in the book betrayer.

So with that I decided to change my black shield force, from an unknown space marine element to renegade worlds eaters and warhounds.

The force will still use the black shield rules. The only thing that have changed are color scheme and story.

i feel really excited about this and are making some small plans on how I will continue with this force.

The force will of course be lead by Endryd Haar and I will build the rest of the force around this idea.

Horus Heresy. Iron warriors. Army update. Part 1.

After going through my first and primary legion, (my iron warriors) I have decided to go back over my old paint scheme and update it. Theses models was painted about two and a half years ago. Even if I am not any golden demon painter I think my skills have improved over the years. And the IV deserve an update.

So pretty much every other project are on hold until this are done.

I feel quite excited about this endeavor. I have no idea how long this will take but it will take as long as it have to. I really love my bitter friends in silver and chevrons!
