Iron Warriors. Land Raider. Part5.
Thursday update :) .
Thursday update :) .
Slowly getting there. Soon time for some mud and dirt.
The land raider after last evenings session.
Next small update on the land raider.
I got the most wonderful idea. Just as my inspiration for my beloved iron warriors was cooling off, I got some interesting lists ideas.
For the first list I need a second land raider. So after being able to buy one very cheap I had no choice but to continue.
I also needed a short break from painting trims on my warlords for Adeptus Titanicus :) .
Here is the first layers on what will be a glorious siege hammer.
The first event of the year is over and I had a great time.
Lovely looking army’s and great people.
The event was fought over the hive city of AJAX prime. Unfortunately the loyalists crushed us traitor’s with flying colors. But it was a good massacre on both sides in any case.
I had three awesome games. First against iron hands. I charged in and hit his lines with everything I got. But the immortals proved to stubborn and hardy to push back. After a couple of rounds of combat, Kharn broke with his squad and fled. Only to be shot to pieces from the rapier battery’s shortly after. The first loss was a fact and only the Sicaran stood defiant against the iron hands machines, with no chance for me to hold any object.
Second game was a double. My world eaters joined an alpha legion mechanize force (armoured breakthrough list). We where up against salamanders and custodies alliance, supported of an emperors children’s armoured breakthrough list. Due to special mission rules we took the alpha legion force in reserve and where able to roll for them from turn one. Also all troop choices went into ongoing reserves once they where all destroyed. I didn’t not fancy my chances when my army was face to face with the armored front of the enemy force. But there was only one way forward in order to claim the objectives. So in true world eater fashion I charged forward.
This was an absolute blast. My marines zigzagged between tanks, mines and gunfire. Vehicle exploding, dragging down one man here and one man there. Slowly working there way to the front, assaulting anything in range. Nothing of this would have been possible without my alpha legion support. Clearing the way for my angry killers and dealing with the heavy guns of the enemy. The game ended in a draw. How ever unlikely it sounds, I didn’t lose a single unit. Great game!
Third game was against custodies and sisters of silence. This was also a game I was sure to lose. My mission was to get as many units up on a landing platform on the final game turn. Randomly the game turns was determined and was only known to me. The mission also rewarded kill points.
Custodies is hard to kill and is packing some serious firepower as well as being able to swing it in close combat. Being the limited tactician I am, I charged his lines as hard I could. Trying to bait some of his units into some sort kill zone. Trying to buy myself time before the evacuation could take place.
My plan worked better then I could have hoped. Even if Kharn was killed after a long dragged out combat, I got two units evacuated in turn 5. On top of this I won on kill points. To my surprise I had out gunned the golden boys and in the end, not much of his force was left standing. It was bloody, intense and brutal. A major victory for the glory of Horus.
This was a really great event, with a lot of cool moments. Thanks to everyone I played with and against. Great sportsmanship, great atmosphere, great friends.
Thank you to Växjö spelförening and to the Dirty K community and organizers. See you all next time!

2018 is coming to a close and with that I sit down and take a look at the past year and look forward to the coming lap around the sun.
2017 ended with high hopes and a well sorted plan. 2018 started with drama and changes, both to my hobby and my life in general.
But despite some hardship, hobby wise I managed to accomplish quite some things.
The main focus have been to build my world eaters, a force that today is about 4000p and growing. This was never part of the original plan for 2018. But I am very happy I were able to make this force happen. In a couple of days I will take this army to its first event and I feel really excited about it.

I were able to make the final push with my mechanicum army and it stands on 3500p currently.

Original I was supposed to focus on this force for the main part of 2018. Even if that didn’t workout in the end, the bulky robots have seen plentiful of action. Specially with my Bretheren of Steel army list for iron warriors.

On top of this I have added small additions to my word bearers as well as for my Iron Warriors.
So, what is the plan for 2019? The events of early 2018 still colors many of my decisions when it comes to my hobby and I don’t necessarily think that is a bad thing. It have forced me to plan a little more, to stay focused and not follow every little impulse I get. For the coming year I will try to to focus my efforts even more in one direction, very much as I have been doing 2018.
The beginning of the new year will be to continue with my World Eaters. I still have some units on my hobby desk that I will add to the army. Then of course I want to add red butchers and Angron him self to the force, at some point.
So the main focus this year will be on my World Eaters mainly. At least for the first half. I just really enjoy playing them and painting them.
I do however have plans for both word bearers and mechanicum as well.
For my word bearers I have a specific list I am working on. Nothing fancy but a simple thematic concept that is in line with my original vision for my word bearers force. Half of the units for this list is already purchased. If nothing drastic happens, the final purchase will happen in the end of January. I hope to have this force ready before the new HH black book comes out. I have a strange feeling that I might want to add some daemons to the force once the new book comes out ;) .
For mechanicum I simply wish to continue the slowly expanding force. I hope I can take the army out for some games in the future. But it is a far to expensive army for me to fully commit all time and resources to.
For Iron Warriors I have tried to figure out a direction to work with. But in all honesty it saddens my bitter heart, that I am a little burned out on them at the moment. I love iron warriors but after playing them for many years I am lost of ideas where to go next. I just need them to rest until I get back that “feeling” again.
Furthermore I will try to make a strong push for Adeptus Titanicus. Firstly I will paint up the warlords and knights I already own. And after that make plans for my next addition. Hopes is to play some games next year and get more people involved with this great game.
Killteam will also be a feature for the next year and I have some models waiting to be painted. I truly like what GW have done with this game and I would love to see even more support for it.
With the resent reveal of bad moon clan Grots, for Age of Sigmar I just need to get some big nasty trolls. I truly enjoy AoS, it is not the best game in the world. But the miniatures looks fantastic and the game is fun in a very simple way. The gaming scene in my area have grown and I don’t feel that it is impossible to find gaming buddies for this game in the future.
My own little skirmish game will also be getting some attention. Hopefully I can get to a point where we will see a alpha release here on the blog. It would be great to get some feedback on the game.
I am also working on yet another game parallel to this. A simple army game with some twists and “original” takes. What will be released first is up in the air.
Other then this, I really hope we will see malifaux 3th edition, World eaters for 40k (even if I don’t play) and battle fleet gothic re-released. And I would love to see yet another skirmish level game, released by GW as well. A game with the crunchyness like Adeptus Titanicus, size of a small game of 40k and with full support. Themed around the age of strife or the unification wars. I know this is truly wishing upon a star. But if I get to dream ;) .
So with all this said I wish everyone a wonderful end to 2018 and an amazing start of 2019. Let the hobby be strong with you. Remember to paint all the minis and stay classy around the gaming table.
I have just started to weather the underlying super structure. More or less, a quick pass before I start on the armor plates. I will probably go in and add more weathering once the armor plates is added.
I base coated the small knights as well. Instead of going blue and red, I went for red and white.
So three will be white with red details and three will be red with white details.
I think that would look good. Both color schemes working together as well as separate.
So it begins. Everything is base coated and magnetized.
After a long time thinking of what Legio I wanted to do, I have settled for Pallidus mor.
I like their background and the color scheme.
The plan here is to make something that I can use in some different ways. One warlord will be predominantly black and one white. The six knights will be three red and three blue. I want to make it so, that I can play all the models as part of the same force but also different enough so that I can split the army in half and run introduction games. I think this will be the best way to go for now.
Once everything is painted I will start planning on how to expand the army.
I am so excited for this! This will be awesome!
The red angel and his elf’s is coming to town. It won’t matter if you are evil or nice. He has a list and will be checking it twice.
I consider the rhino to be done now.
It became a bloody mess :) . Just the way I like it. I have one vexilla to paint for the squad that will ride in this rhino. After that I am all set for the HH event early 2019.
I have started on the final model for my world eaters list for the upcoming event 3 January.
If it is coming along nicely. There is however, a lot more work too be done
First of all. Wow. The Blackstone Fortress is a wonderful full box filled with goodies. I would honestly say that only the models would be worth the price of the box.
I love most of the sculpts. A few could have been given some alternative poses. But you know what, that’s being pick.
All the models is snapp fit and they do fit together perfectly. And with the amount of details, it is an absolute delight to see them all put together.
This took a long time, there was so many models in this box. My plan for finishing this box until Christmas seems to be way too unrealistic. Specially with a Horus Heresy event coming up early 2019.
So I will pause the work on this box right now. I need to focus on get my world eaters ready for the event. And I will try to put some time in on Adeptus Titanicus as well before the new year.
But here is all the models from Blackstone Fortress, assembled and ready for painting.
I had to make a U turn and rearrange my hobby schedule.
I got my box quite late so I won’t bother with a unboxing review. But I will review the game once all is painted and I have played it.
Plan is to finish the paint job of all models in time for the Christmas holidays. Wish me luck :)
And I am done with this one. I think it turned out quite good. I really enjoy painting the War-hound color scheme!
After coincidering this for quite some time. After asking forums, making experimental lists and thinking about it. I have decided to repaint my Iron Warriors spartan and give it to my world eaters.
Now, this have not been an easy decision. I love this model. And I love seeing it on the tabletop besides Perturabos sons. But in all honesty I never add it to any Iron Warriors lists. And most of the time it just sits in the display case.
So I am adding it to the army that will be able to use it better and absolutely more often.
This is still a work in progress but I believe it will look great once it’s done.
For about a year now, me, my spouse and a friend is working on a skirmish game.
It is a very free and opened game, set in the city of Kuggköping. The “development” of the game is on its third revision and there is still a lot more to be done. But once it’s ready to be shared I will try to spread it here alongside other platforms.
I don’t feel to share to much about the actual game right now due to the fact that the game can change dramatically between now and its “release”. But I can however talk a little about why.
Why would you put yourself through the long and hard process of creating your own game? Being a big consumer of miniature games you come across a vast multitude of rules. I would say that every ruleset I have come across have all had some very good parts and of course some bad ones as well.
We started to talk about how cool wouldn’t it be if this set of rules had rules just like that other game. Or why didn’t they added this feature to this game.
Wish listing and hopping that the next edition would add something like that. For different reasons whatever company never did add those features or changed the rules like we had hoped.
So why not do it our self? Add all the stuff we like, come up with our own way of doing things and wrap it all in a setting of our own choice.
And that is what we started to do. Main focus is to create something that we enjoy. If we know what we like and have the total freedom to create whatever we want, then we would be able to create something that we would think is great. Our own “go to game” .
That was the theory. The process of creating something that you like is however much harder. For one we discovered that we only had a basic understanding of what we actually like. And then it is not just up to us. You need some one to play with. The reality of life and all is complexity finds its way into what on the surface seems like a simple concept.
But the game will happen and it will be done. Small steps forward is still steps forward.
So let me introduce one of my war bands for Kuggköping. Twiddle root and his gang of trolls, oh and Oscar.
In front: Twiddle root and Trigger.
In front: Trigger, Squeeze and Sniff
In front: Sproute and Oscar.
I added a little something to my murder hord.
The Stormlord! Since I found out about this tanks existence I have wanted it.
It took a couple of years for me to find the “right” application for it. Now I am well aware about the dangers of putting loads of guys on this thing and driving it forward the enemy. The implications when this thing blows up is devastating. But it looks to cool to not use. And the dangers adds to the excitement.
However I do think that the tank can be put to good use. Just don’t fill it up with everything you got. Try to find cover when ever you can. And get up in the face as quick as possible.
For any Horus Heresy veterans out there you have probably already seen that this tank have loads of Aquila’s on it. And most people don’t like that. I however view it in a different way. First of all, this is a war hounds stormlord. The Aquila’s is left from loyalist times. Don’t mess with stuff that can upset the machine spirit.
Second, I have a hard time imagining world eaters really carrying about it. If they would have any opinions about it I am sure they would see it as an insult to loyalist scums ;) .
The new killteam is done. Quite please with it, will be fun to play them.
