Malifaux. Geryon. Finished.
Here we have the two Geryons for my Euripides crew. Even if I had some problems with the airbrush compressor I think they turned out ok.
And here is the whole family :) .
Here we have the two Geryons for my Euripides crew. Even if I had some problems with the airbrush compressor I think they turned out ok.
And here is the whole family :) .
Started to add paint to the latest addition to my Euripides crew. Two wired monster trolls, things :) . Trying to be as true to the box art as I can. Added some ropes to hide most of the split lines.
For paint scheme I primed them black and Zenit sprayed white before adding thicker oil paint layers. First removing paint where it is needed then working in surface highlights. Quite easy but takes a little time due to drying times :) .
I decided to add some camouflage to my Iron Warriors Medusa. I did like the conversation as it was, but compared to the legion Medusa I already have it felt a little small.
So I added some camo to bulk the tank out some.
I really like how this turned out. Thinking on adding camouflage to some more tanks. We will see where this leads :) .
A couple of days ago me and a friend played a game of Titanicus. One and a half year has passed since I last played with my big robots and it was finally time to get a game in.
we had a small skirmish with about 1200p on each side to get into the game again.
This time I made a proper list with a legion traits and all. And tried to play with some sort of a plan in mind.
My warlord and two reavers faced off against two reavers two warhounds and a warbringer.
We played with the open ear card deck and the primary mission was to hold the middle of the table. Secondary mission was to bring two pick two Titans secretly and bring them down to critical damage without destroying them.
My Titans was out numbered and in part out gunned. I had my warlord with double belicosa volcano cannons to make up for it.
I purchased up aggressively with one of my reavers with the hopes to bring the melta canon within range. Setting up one of the enemies reavers with my warlord and then finish it with my reaver. A nice thought but my reaver took heavy gunfire coming in from my opponents warhounds. One with double volcan mega bolters and one with a mega bolter and a plasma. This ate through the reavers voids with ease and left my reaver out inte the open. Next turn the reactor went super nova and the first titan kill was scored.
The enemy had easily taken control over the center objective, taken out one of my Titans and was now hunting my second reaver.
I started to focus on the second mission and this was relatively easy for me to achieve. But on turn three I realized I had no chance to take back the game. I only had one last gamble and that was to take one titan down and hope it would create a chain reaction among its own line and open up the center. With only two Titans my options was limited.
I did everything I could, but my warlords shoots went wide and my crazy gamble had failed. With no more cards to play I had lost the game.
Only one Titian kill had been achieved but most Titans was smoking wreckes with a heartbeat away from erupting.
A very fun game that ended 15-10 to infernus.
I learned a lot from that game and have a couple of ideas on how to make better use of my Titans and legion ability’s. I also learned that warhounds can be incredibly effective. So I started assembling my next Titans right away :) .
I have one more titanucus game coming up next week and I have signed up to an titanicus event in the end of august.
But now I will continue with my family vacation and enjoy some care free days in the south of Sweden :) . Ending it here :) .
A new version of Kuggköping is out :D. Alpha 3.0 is finaly ready for the world.
There have been a lot of changes to the game. One of the aims have been to make each phase a little more engaging. There is a lot to say about what I have changed, edited, or updated but why not try it for yourself?
I appreciate all and any respectful feedback.
http://notacollector.com/kuggkping-the-game
Here is a short description of the game, maybe this is something you would enjoy?
Kuggköping is a solo/cooperative game set in the wondrous and
whimsical city of kuggköping.
You will pick one or more characters and headout into the city to
explore and discover the hidden secrets of the city.
The game is played with any models that you might have in your
miniature collection, with friends or in your own company.
You will pick your characters and go on random missions with
random end conditions. Between games you will level up your
characters, assign new upgrades and head out once more.
When you and your characters feel confident enough you might want
to try your luck with one of the end game missions. Once all end
game missions have been completed you have completed the game of
Kuggköping.
The game is meant to be difficult at times. The dangers are many
and your outcome is uncertain. Sometimes the “deck” is stacked
against you.
If you enjoy crunchy games, like older games from the 80s and 90s.
Rolling on multiple tables and flipping through rules. Creating
characters and leveling them up. Reading through silly stories and
whimsical artwork. Fighting an asymmetrical uphill battle. Then
this game is for you.
Good luck in the city and hope you find many riches...and that you
make your way back alive.
This will be just a small little update. Adding the forth contemptor to my Iron Warriors ranks. Lately I have been everywhere and nowhere hobby wise. Doing it all but not completing anything. Sometimes that’s better than nothing :) .
”Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes”
A little update on my Word Bearers termination squad and terminator praetor. The terminators was already painted up all I have done is to add oils and decals. Not just oil washes but also adding highlights, leans glows and surface highlights. This is another example on how you can use oils on miniatures. It is quite easy to just add to already existing paint schemes. In fact this will most likely be my approach going forward. Acrylic base and then continue and finish with oils. Any way, ending it here :) .
A Toast to the Guns
By them we live,
For them we would die.
Whatever the Mission,
We’ll give it a try. We’ll serve them with Honor
For they are the ones;
That make us Artillerymen,
So here’s to the Guns:
TO THE GUNS!!
There we go, two artillery tanks done and ready for the battlefield. As I mentioned in my previous post, I have used a lot of oils for this particular project not just to wash the models but also painting. It is a very enjoyable process and incredibly easy. The only downside is that it takes some extra time to dry. But it is also the drying time that is the big advantage. You can change, add, remove and add to your paint scheme without worrying about if what you are doing will work or not. There is plenty of time to explore and experiment before you settle for a final result.
If you haven’t tried it I highly recommend you do. I am sure I will use it more often from now on.
Getting there, some details have been added and all models have been washed with a mix of black and brown oil washes. I actually painted some details with only oils. Like the targeting lights and headlights on the scorpius. This was surprisingly easy.
Now, I will let all models dry completely before I continue with more details and highlights.
Time to add some reinforcements to my first love. I enjoy painting all sorts of colors but it is nice to return to something that runs smoothly and is quite straightforward.
Painting Iron Warriors is relatively easy. I am sure you can complicate things even with them but generally you don’t have to in order to get a nice result.
Prime black, dark silver base coat and lighter silver as surface highlight.
Just blocking in some colors, add transfers, seal and then wipe out the oils. Highlights and details and done.
Simple, easy and it looks good…at least that’s what I think :) .
Now, these models will set until tomorrow and then I will continue with blocking in colors so maybe one third done.
“I know of witches who whistle at different pitches, calling things that don't have names.”
“And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and hell followed with him.”
So, there we go. Some daemons for my Word Bearers. I have some more deamons that I could paint up and I might just do that, but I have to say that I am losing a little steam.
To have taken the Word Bearers this far have been a lot of fun and very satisfying. But I have my eyes fixed on other things. We will see what I do next.
Overall I like these dark children of the warp. Two different units in two different colors. This was not my first intention to separate them this much. But my newest daemons kind of begged for something different. All and all I feel that it works. These daemons will mostly be used for summoning.
Anyway, I feel happy and I hope I can put the entire army on the table top soon :) .
Finally I got the time to share some hobby progress. May have been a busy month, but as it comes to a close hopefully it takes all the busyness with it.
Anyway, The bulk of my Word Bearers is more or less done for now. There is some small additions I want to make but more on that at a later date. However, Word Bearers is also known for all their pet deamons.
With Zardu Layak in the force we need to represent the ruinous powers. Games Workshop have some incredible deamon models in their portfolio. But to me these are the 40K deamons. During Horus Heresy chaos and humanity was a young romantic couple. All had not fallen into place. So I wanted to go with something a little different from what we usually see.
I decided to go with Sylvaneth models to represent one of the strings of my Word Bearers ruinous symphony. These models where extremely easy to convert. I only used parts from the existing kit, except for one model.
And color scheme so far have been equally easy.
Black base coat
White Zenit spray (air brush)
Turquoise shadow/transition spray from feet and up
Brown oil wash, with cotton swab. Removing the wash so that the top surface becomes lighter.
Now, I am not completely done but I don’t think I will add anything to drastic on the color scheme. All and all it feels good to finally have some more time for hobbies again :) .
“
All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father’s kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth.”
“From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods.”
“If the tanks succeed, then victory follows. ”
“When war rages in heaven, angels fall onto earth. There is no god higher than the truth and with the truth we will set you free. ”
The final dreadclaw is finished. I am slowly getting to the end of this revisit of my Word Bearers. I have a couple of things left to do before I call it.
This dreadclaw was a rescue pod from an old purchase I made. It was badly constructed to begin with. I tried to fix most of the issues, but sadly some things were not fixable. I however think it looks ok on the tabletop.
Now I am just hoping that this pandemic can go away so I can play some games again.
“Do you really think that I enjoy this; the torture and the killing? That I would rather not have peace? ... but this is what the true Gods demand, Khârn. This is the Truth we have, this is the galaxy we live in”
“You are Argel Tal. You were born on Colchis, in the village of Singh-Rukh, to a carpenter and a seamstress. Your name means ‘the last angel’ in the dialect of the southern steppes tribes”
I think I have come back to my word bearers once every year since I started with them. And every year I have almost sold them, haha. Now I am at that point again where I add stuff and put time in. Maybe this year will be the year where I find my love for this legion to last the whole year around.
I had this old drop pod laying around and a big big bits box urging to be used. A couple of weeks later I now have a heavily converted dreadclaw. If it was any other legion I would probably not have bothered, but the background for Word Bearers kind of suit this kind of conversion. The conversion itself was nothing to hard, just time consuming. But I like it. A corrupted machine spirit and a little possession seems like a nice fit for this most zealous of legions.
I have one more dreadclaw to finish. This time it will be the proper one from forge world and without all the corruption.
“FOR WE HAVE SEEN HIS STAR IN THE EAST, AND ARE COME TO WORSHIP HIM”
“This world may bring deep darkness,
but we are the bearers of light.
We´ll join our flames together,
and shine in the blackest of night.”
“Where do reality start and where does it end? My body dwindle but my perceptions is ecstatic. I cannot live without the other but one hold presidents.
Am I a slave or am I doing this to myself willingly?
Is my life in one end of the cable or the other?
Questions that once held important to us, do not matter anymore, for here we are free. In our own synthetic prison. Our silicon life, our software dream.
”
I am taking my blog in a new direction. Instead of exclusively focusing on miniatures and models, I will start to in cooperate some of my other creative hobbies as well. Like painting artwork!
Painting is a big part of my creative free time and I have been trying to treat it more professional since 2018.
I hope you all like it and that it adds a nice variation to my regular content. And do not be alarmed. There will be plenty of miniatures and war game hobbies as normal.
If you like the art presented in this post, you can buy art prints of it by pressing the “Buy artwork” button.
